Dr Robin Drennan
Lecture Overview: Dr Robin Drennan has a PhD in Chemistry from Rhodes University, awarded for the investigation of kinetic and mechanistic processes of solid state, pyrotechnic reactions. More simply put, he studied chemical reactions that went bang! In his career, he has taught physical science, mathematics and cricket at a high school. For eleven years, he conducted applied research for AECI Limited and for the CSIR.His philosophy of research and innovation recognises that these are vital to the success of a university, country and region. To promote research, innovation and their impact on society, he believes it is important to recognise that these are social processes, which depend on creative thinking, and require a favourable environment: One that is open, free and safe and most importantly, fun!
