The aim of the course is to examine the mutual shaping of gender and science, technology, and innovation (STI) in the national systems of innovation in Africa. It explores how gender becomes imprinted in new scientific knowledge and new technologies, and how women and men encounter the products of science and technology differently.
Did you know that you can earn training points towards professional recognition when completing the Wits certified online short courses? The six online, digitised short courses will help you build your skills and enhance your credibility as a research management professional and the training points earned can be used when applying for or renewing a professional research management/administration designation.
Professional recognition constitutes an award of professional status, which acknowledges the expertise and accomplishment of the research manager/administrator through the review of a portfolio of evidence by peers on the autonomous International Professional Recognition Council (IPRC). The IPRC is composed of experienced research managers from around the globe. When applying for any one of the three designations applicants are required to capture the training points for completed training as part of the portfolio of evidence.
There are designations for new entrants to the profession (Research Administrator Professional – RAP), for mid to advanced career research managers (Research Management Professional – RMP) and for senior research managers in a research management leadership or strategic role (Senior Research Management Professional – SRMP).
Designations are renewable after five years. Professional recognition would confirm to employers, colleagues, and others in the research management environment that the individual has committed to develop as a research management professional and has demonstrated core and transferable competencies and that s/he has contributed to significant achievements and contributions in research management/administration. Highly skilled individuals who have a clear understanding of the research world and with well-developed research management and administrative skills are invaluable to research institutions in the increasingly complex research and funding environment.
